Sleeping Bags

How to choose a sleeping bagStaying warm is about matching the bag – and your sleeping pad – to the coldest night you expect, not the average temperature of the trip.Temperature rating: ratings are closer to a limit than to a comfortable night. Each review has a checker that adds a margin for how you sleep.Shape: mummy bags are warmer for their weight; rectangular and double bags give more room to move.Fill: down packs smaller for the same warmth; synthetic fill copes better with damp.Pack size and weight: matter for backpacking, much less for car camping.GoOutdoor reviews are research-based: we compare manufacturer specifications and product documentation rather than claiming hands-on tests.
